Dr Nick Straiton - Brighton

Dr Nick StraitonDr Nick Straiton qualified in Medicine from Charing Cross Hospital in 1979 and subsequently underwent surgical training gaining the FRCS in 1984. He then undertook training in Orthopaedic Surgery at St Mary's Hospital, London and in 1988 commenced working at The London Clinic for Injuries at 71 Park Street, one of the first clinics in the UK to specialise in the treatment of Sporting Injuries. Here he gained valuable experience treating top class athletes and elite football players. This experience stimulated him to gain further expertise in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions subsequently training at the London College of Osteopathic Medicine where he qualified in Osteopathy in 1989. After further training he sat and passed the inaugural British Institute of Musculoskeletal Medicine diploma examination in 1993. The following year he was appointed to the Orthopaedic Department of the Royal Sussex County Hospital primarily in charge of the Back Pain Assessment Clinic until 2011. Since that time he has been working in private practice both in this country and France. He is also currently working as a Musculoskeletal Medical specialist at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine.

Dr Straiton is currently a tutor at the London College of Osteopathic Medicine and for BIMM (British Institute for Musculoskeletal Medicine). He is a member of the council and treasurer of BIMM.

Although interested in all aspects of MSK medicine he has a particular interest in the treatment of stress related musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr Nick Straiton is a keen cricket player and is also a Level 2 ECB coach. He trains regularly in Genbukan Ninpo at the Shin Din Dojo in Brighton.
